Prince Harry received heartbreaking news from his father, King Charles, about his future in the royal family after being excluded from the monarch’s historic Christmas Speech. The King delivered his message from London’s Fitzrovia Chapel on December 25, praising the royal family and their contributions, but notably omitting his son from the address.

In the speech, King Charles praised the actions of the royal family in the face of adversity, particularly during the riots, and offered tributes to the medical teams who helped Princess Kate and others with cancer treatment.

A video accompanying the speech featured key royal figures, including Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne, and the Edinburgh, but conspicuously left out both Harry and the “disgraced” Duke of York, Prince Andrew. This omission appeared to signal the deepening divide between the monarch and his son.

Royal commentator Dr. Tessa Dunlop analyzed the exclusion, telling The Mirror that it showed King Charles had “clearly made up his mind” about Harry’s role in the royal family. “Lest we are in any doubt, the clever film that accompanied this speech, underscored the importance of the King’s royal A-Team, on hand to deliver what Charles considers to be an alternative to global killing: a listening and understanding mission that leads to actions for the good of all,” Dr. Dunlop explained.

The video featured moments of key royals performing their duties, including Kate at Trooping the Colour, Camilla in Scotland and Australia, William serving food to the homeless, and the steadfast royal figures of Princess Anne and the Edinburghs. “Harry and Andrew were nowhere to be seen,” Dr. Dunlop noted, highlighting the stark absence of the two.

Dr. Dunlop concluded that King Charles’ decision to focus on his family’s strengths and omit his sons pointed to a clear strategy for the upcoming year. “He has clearly made up his mind about how to ‘act for the good of all’, choosing to focus on family strengths, not weaknesses, to shore up a nation (and a world) for a difficult year ahead.” This exclusion marks another significant moment in the strained relationship between Prince Harry and the royal family.
