Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have once again found themselves at the center of headlines after rumors about their alleged divorce surfaced, sparking debate and prompting friends to defend the couple.

The speculation, fueled by a Vanity Fair article, has reportedly made “a bad time worse” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a friend told The Daily Beast.

The controversy began when it was claimed that a member of Meghan’s team had allegedly approached publishers about a potential book centered on life after a hypothetical divorce from Harry.

“The divorce story seemed very unfair. There was a book but there wasn’t a book, she was planning for life after divorce, but they are totally in love. What? There was not a shred of evidence,” a friend of the couple told the outlet.

According to the Vanity Fair piece, a rumor had circulated within the publishing world that Meghan’s representatives had gauged interest in such a project. However, the article clarified that no formal proposal was made, no manuscript existed, and no offers were extended.

Despite these claims, the article also emphasized that “everyone” who knows the couple attests to their strong bond, describing them as deeply in love and “so hot for each other.” Reacting to the allegations, the friend stated, “Things aren’t easy for them right now, and this has succeeded in making a bad time worse.”

Prince Harry himself dismissed divorce rumors during the 2024 DealBook Summit in New York, joking, “Apparently, we’ve divorced maybe 10, 12 times.” Meanwhile, British commentator Piers Morgan weighed in on the couple’s recent public appearances, accusing them of “cynical” self-promotion during visits to Los Angeles fire relief centers.

“I’m afraid I’m very cynical. I think it’s purely for self-promotional reasons,” Morgan said in an interview, echoing criticisms that the Sussexes have been acting as “disaster tourists.”

While rumors and accusations continue to swirl, friends of Harry and Meghan maintain that the couple is enduring a difficult period but remain deeply connected and in love. The ongoing scrutiny highlights the challenges of balancing public life and personal relationships under the global spotlight.
