Thanksgiving 2024 brought a hilarious surprise for netizens when President-elect Donald Trump shared a bizarre video of himself popping out of a turkey. The edited clip featured a scene from the 1989 film National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, reimagined with the faces of prominent political figures from the 2024 election.

In the original movie, the character Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase, tries to carve a Thanksgiving turkey, only to disappoint his family with the overcooked bird. In the edited version, President Joe Biden’s face was placed over Griswold’s, and as Biden “cuts” the turkey, Trump suddenly pops out, glittering and grooving to Y.M.C.A. by The Village People— a song that became an anthem during Trump’s re-election campaigns, per Newsweek.

The clip was originally shared by Trump’s son, Don Jr., in 2021 but took on new life after being reposted by Trump on Thanksgiving. But it wasn’t just Biden and Trump who appeared in the video. The edited version also featured several of Trump’s political opponents, including Democratic candidates Vice President Kamala Harris, California Rep. Adam Schiff, New York Rep.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Rep. Ilhan Omar. This montage seemed to echo the opposition’s disappointment with Trump’s 2024 presidential victory. The humorous video went viral, with the captionless post on X (formerly Twitter) quickly amassing over 38 million views.

Alongside the video, Trump shared a scornful Thanksgiving message on Truth Social, aimed at his political adversaries. “Happy Thanksgiving to all, including to the Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed,” the message read. Trump added that his victory was a response to the “hopelessly” bad policies of the left, vowing to restore America to its “respectable, fair, strong, and productive status.”

In contrast, President Biden shared a more traditional Thanksgiving message, focusing on unity and gratitude. “May we use this moment to take time from our busy lives and focus on what matters most: our families, our friends, our neighbors, and the fact that we’ve been blessed to live in America, the greatest country on Earth,” Biden wrote. He also expressed thanks to the nation, grateful for the opportunity to serve the American people.
