The conflict reportedly began when Trump, “caught by surprise” by actions from Colombia, ordered retaliatory tariffs on goods from the South American ally.

In response, Colombia’s leader issued tariffs of his own on all U.S. goods, escalating the situation further. “For all the clowns hyping Trump’s move on Colombia: under Biden, Colombia accepted 475 deportation flights—over 120 in 2024 alone. And he didn’t have to show his a– or start a trade war to do it. He was just that good,” Jackson tweeted.

Democratic lawmaker Ruben Gallego also condemned the move, calling it unnecessary. “This is a dumb trade war that the Trump admin started,” he said. Gallego argued that the situation could have been handled diplomatically, adding, “This could have been resolved with a phone call. Trump picked a fight with an ally, to look strong.”

We import a majority of roses from Colombia.” Former Democratic lawmaker Bakari Sellers joined the criticism, highlighting the accomplishments of the Biden administration.

A popular YouTuber known as @LiveFromTheResistance warned of skyrocketing costs for Americans. “And we have a trade war with Columbia in less than 1 week, which will send prices of gasoline and products skyrocketing for Americans.
