In a Sunday interview on Fox News, Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) expressed her frustration that President-elect Donald Trump has not been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize despite his achievements in foreign policy. Tenney praised Trump’s past efforts in the Middle East and criticized the previous administration’s approach to international relations.

Host Jackie Deangelis mentioned that a cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel was on the table during the final months of President Joe Biden’s presidency. Responding to this, Tenney said, “There’s a new sheriff in town. They know President Trump’s coming back under his maximum pressure campaign, isolating the Iranians, the biggest state sponsor of terror in the Middle East, wreaking havoc and causing disruption with all the potential prosperity in that part of the world, which is so critically important.”

She continued to criticize the Biden administration, stating, “The Biden administration has appeased the Iranian administration. President Trump is going to stand tough.” Tenney emphasized that Trump’s firm stance is recognized by both Iran and U.S. allies in the region. “I think Iran recognizes it, and I think the people in the Middle East, all of our allies there, are very excited about the prospects of President Trump,” she added.

Tenney highlighted the Abraham Accords, agreements signed during Trump’s previous term that normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations, as evidence of his successful diplomacy. Despite these accomplishments, she lamented that Trump has not received recognition from the Nobel Committee. “It’s why I actually nominated President Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize because he’s probably the only world leader who came up with an incredible deal who hasn’t been nominated,” she insisted.

“But that just tells you the credibility of that organization.” Her comments reflect a broader sentiment among some Republicans who believe Trump’s foreign policy achievements have been undervalued. Tenney’s nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize underscores her belief that his actions have significantly contributed to peace and stability in the Middle East.

The congresswoman’s remarks also signal expectations for Trump’s upcoming term, suggesting a return to a more aggressive foreign policy approach. She criticized the prior administration’s strategies, implying that they weakened the U.S. position globally. “President Trump is going to stand tough,” Tenney reiterated, expressing confidence that his leadership will bring about positive changes in international relations.

As Trump prepares to take office again, debates over his foreign policy methods and their effectiveness are likely to intensify. Supporters like Tenney argue that his tactics have yielded tangible results, while critics remain skeptical of his approach. The question of whether these efforts will lead to renewed nominations or awards from international bodies like the Nobel Committee remains open.
