“The View” Hosts Slam RFK Jr. Over Handling of Texas Outbreak and Vaccine Skepticism

The co-hosts of The View launched a scathing critique against newly appointed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., accusing him of spreading misinformation and failing to grasp basic facts during a crucial Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The controversy stems from an outbreak in Texas that claimed its first life earlier this week. Concerns have mounted regarding the federal government’s response to the crisis, with many questioning whether sufficient measures are being taken to contain it.

During the meeting, Kennedy reportedly downplayed the severity of the situation, calling it an “epidemic” despite its classification not meeting the official definition under Britannica. He also insisted that such outbreaks are “not unusual,” a statement that drew sharp criticism from the panel.
Whoopi Goldberg, one of the show’s leading voices, expressed deep frustration over Kennedy’s remarks, particularly his suggestion that there was “no cause for alarm.” “I don’t like the fact that when RFK was asked about the measles, he made — it was a very sort of blasé response. But it’s not blasé to the person who lost their child,” Goldberg said, highlighting the real-life consequences of what she called a careless attitude toward public health.

Goldberg warned that vaccine skepticism could lead to more outbreaks of preventable diseases. She criticized the Trump administration’s past handling of similar situations and expressed worry about Kennedy’s lack of urgency in addressing the crisis.
“Actually, it is unusual because it was eradicated!” Goldberg exclaimed. “You are not giving out the proper information. This is your job, dude. People are going to die if they believe what they’re saying and they don’t check.” Her concerns were echoed by co-host Sara Haines, who pointed out recent budget cuts and freezes affecting public health initiatives.
“The FDA just canceled a meeting about the flu vaccine for next year, and usually, they need a six-month run-up to decide and manufacture it in time,” Haines noted. “So, as we’re rolling these back, it is scary because Bill Gates sat right here and said there is a good chance we’ll go through another pandemic in the next 25 years with a 10% chance in the next four years.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin also took aim at Kennedy, citing the numerous inaccuracies in his statements and expressing concern over his leadership in a future public health emergency. “I would be listening to this man if he had one iota of medical experience,” Goldberg added. “He fired everybody. Where are the scientists? You fired all the damn scientists!”
The exchange underscored growing concerns over the federal government’s approach to public health and the potential consequences of dismissing expert advice in crisis situations.
