Melania Trump has largely remained out of the public eye since assuming the role of First Lady for a second time, Daily Mail reported on Monday, March 3. The 54-year-old former model had displayed a similar tendency during her husband’s first term as President Donald Trump. Since his inauguration on January 20, Melania has made only a handful of public appearances.

The First Lady was notably absent from key diplomatic meetings with world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. She also did not accompany Trump to Super Bowl LIX, where he became the first sitting president to attend the event.

Melania’s official FLOTUS Instagram account contains only five posts, one of which is her White House portrait. Reports indicate she has yet to hire a social secretary, and her East Wing staff remains minimal, with fewer than a dozen employees.

On Monday, March 3, Melania made her first solo appearance of the term, visiting Capitol Hill to support the ‘TAKE IT DOWN’ act, a legislative effort aimed at protecting citizens from deepfake and revenge adult videos. Prior to that, her last public outings with Trump were on January 24, during a visit to hurricane-ravaged North Carolina, and at the National Governors Association Dinner on February 22.

Speculation about Melania’s whereabouts has been rampant, but Trump addressed her absence at the Governors’ Dinner. “Let me begin by expressing our gratitude to the First Lady of the United States for hosting the dinner,” Trump said. “She worked very hard on making sure everything was beautiful. She’s very good at that… Thank you for doing such a great job, honey. Really great. Really beautiful.”

Reports suggest that Melania has been prioritizing their son, Barron Trump, who currently attends the Stern School of Business at New York University. Insiders claim she has devoted much of the past month to supporting him as he adjusts to college life.

Another factor occupying her time is her upcoming Amazon documentary. Melania reportedly pitched the project to Jeff Bezos at Mar-a-Lago last December, securing a $40 million deal based on her memoir, Melania. The documentary crew had exclusive access as the Trumps transitioned from Mar-a-Lago to the White House, requiring household staff to sign waivers, a move that reportedly made the Secret Service uneasy.

Filming concluded in February, potentially allowing Melania to return to her official duties as FLOTUS. However, her absence has drawn sharp criticism on social media. “A cold and vacuous woman! Not a fan,” one user wrote in the Daily Mail’s comment section. “Even she is embarrassed—Trump and his new Electric Jesus boyfriend,” another user added, referencing Elon Musk.

“She disappeared because she just doesn’t give A F! Most classless First Lady ever!” exclaimed a third commenter. “No one missed her,” another jibe read. “Because she is lazy and useless,” a fifth person quipped.

As public scrutiny continues, Melania’s role in the administration remains uncertain, with many questioning whether she will take a more active position in her second tenure as First Lady.
