The chairman of the American Conservative Union, Matt Schlapp, allegedly grabbed another person’s genitals at a bar in rural Sperryville, Virginia, according to a report from the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office obtained by local news outlet Rappahannock News.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on February 8 at the Black Twig. Bar owner Daniel Gleason contacted the sheriff’s office, reporting that a patron had “just assaulted another customer.” However, the suspect was not found, and the victim declined to prosecute, the report states.

According to the sheriff’s office, 57-year-old Schlapp was later identified as the suspect. No charges were filed in connection with the incident. The dispatcher’s notes indicate the suspect “assaulted one person, grabbing their genitals.” The victim declined medical attention and refused to pursue legal action.

Schlapp reportedly left the bar in a BMW, as noted in the sheriff’s report, which was cited by journalist Tom LoBianco of 24sight News. Schlapp did not respond to LoBianco’s request for comment. At the time of the alleged incident, the bar was hosting a “Snowball Dance Party” for adults 21 and older.

Schlapp and his wife own a residence in nearby Madison County. The allegations were initially reported by independent journalist Yashar Ali, who cited anonymous witnesses fearing retribution. This is not the first time Schlapp has faced such accusations.

Previously, Carlton Huffman, a former Senate campaign staffer for Georgia Republican Herschel Walker, filed a $9 million lawsuit against Schlapp in 2022, alleging that Schlapp groped him while he was driving him in October of that year. Schlapp has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.

Despite the lack of formal charges, the accusations add to the scrutiny surrounding Schlapp’s conduct and raise concerns within conservative political circles.
