A Florida mother was tragically killed in a road rage shooting on her birthday, while her daughter remains in critical condition, fighting for her life. Georgeann Garner, 48, and her daughter, Marileigh Lewis, were victims of a violent shooting on Highway 231 and Harrison Avenue in Panama City.
Both suffered gunshot wounds and were treated by first responders, but Garner succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local medical center. Lewis was also rushed to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The Panama City Police Department stated that officers nearby heard the gunfire and immediately pursued the suspects’ vehicle. The chase ended when the suspects’ car crashed into a police vehicle, bringing it to a halt. Authorities identified the driver as Ivybella Encino, 21, and the passenger as Jubal Simmons, 23.
After the crash, Simmons attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers. According to police reports, the altercation began when Encino and Simmons became angry over traffic conditions and started yelling at the occupants of Garner’s vehicle.

Lewis and Encino allegedly engaged in a brief physical altercation before both groups returned to their vehicles. Moments later, investigators say Encino drove past the victims’ car while Simmons allegedly fired approximately 11 shots, striking both Garner and Lewis in the chest.
Officials have not disclosed how many bullets hit each victim, but authorities confirmed that none of the individuals involved in the shooting knew each other prior to the deadly encounter. Following Garner’s tragic death, a family friend, Sandra Pearson, launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the victims. Pearson shared heartbreaking details about the night Garner’s life was cut short.

“The world was robbed of her beauty on her birthday. Georgeann was out celebrating being 48 with her family,” Pearson wrote. “One minute, she was out celebrating at a Mardi Gras parade in Panama City Beach, and the next minute her life was taken needlessly by an act of violence that was senseless and selfish.”
As the investigation continues, the Panama City community mourns the devastating loss of a mother whose life ended in a senseless act of road rage.
