35-Year-Old Florida Martial Arts Fighter Kills Fiancé in Drug-Fueled Rage While ‘Super High’
Phillip Keller, a former professional MMA fighter from Florida, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of his fiancée, Alicia Campitelli, 35, in a chilling case that unfolded in May 2021. The tragic incident occurred at their home in Brevard County after a heated argument over Keller’s drug use, according to court documents.
The affidavit revealed that Keller had secretly taken Campitelli’s gun, loaded it with three bullets, and concealed it in a closet. During the altercation, he retrieved the weapon, hid it under a towel, and fired at Campitelli as she desperately tried to shield herself by “ducking and crawling.” Witnesses reported hearing her cry out, “Oh God no,” before she was fatally struck by a bullet. She was pronounced dead at the scene, told Florida Today.
In the aftermath, Keller attempted to cover his tracks by disposing of shell casings and fleeing the home. He withdrew $1,481.50 from Campitelli’s bank account, using the money to purchase more drugs, and later dumped the murder weapon in a canal. The following morning, Keller called 911, claiming his home had been burglarized and Campitelli had been shot. “I need help immediately, it looks like she’s dead.
Oh my God. It looks like she’s been shot and been robbed, my house has been robbed,” he told the dispatcher, according to WKMG. However, investigators quickly grew suspicious of Keller’s account. He “spontaneously” informed them that he had sold a firearm days before the shooting and admitted to changing his clothes after discovering Campitelli’s body, claiming he was “sweaty.”
The case took a decisive turn when a friend recorded Keller confessing to the crime during a series of phone calls. In the recordings, Keller admitted to being “super high on Molly,” a slang term for MDMA, at the time of the murder. He chillingly confessed, “I killed her bro,” and added, “I killed her high as [expletive].
I did it. I don’t know how I did it, but I can’t live with myself knowing that. I’m a piece of (expletive). I was super high on Molly.” Further damning details emerged as Keller described the cold-blooded act: “I shot her the first time and missed through a towel, and she ducked her head, and I shot her twice in the back of the head in cold blood. I did it, I’m so [expletive] sorry man.”
Initially charged with first-degree murder, Keller accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Prior to the shooting, he had a professional MMA record of 2-6. The case has left the community in shock, highlighting the devastating consequences of drug abuse and domestic violence. Keller’s 50-year sentence brings a measure of justice for Campitelli, whose life was tragically cut short.
