2-Year-Old Son and Girlfriend Killed as Neighbors Hear Horror Screams Before Man Jumps Out Window

A Connecticut man has been arrested in connection with the brutal deaths of his girlfriend and two-year-old son, a crime that has left the local community shaken. Jevon Fletcher, 26, has been charged with murder, murder with exceptional circumstances, and risk of injury, according to the West Haven Police Department. Neighbors have described the incident as a “sickening” act of violence.

Authorities responded to multiple disturbance calls at an apartment complex on Saturday night (February 15) after Fletcher reportedly jumped from a second-story window. Upon entering the apartment, officers discovered the bodies of 19-year-old Hailey Miller and a two-year-old boy, identified as Fletcher’s son, both of whom had been stabbed to death.

Fletcher was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment and was placed behind bars on Tuesday (February 18) with a $3 million bond. Police have not yet disclosed a motive for the killings. Miller’s family described her as “a hard-working mother, always looking to further her education/career,” in a GoFundMe campaign created to support the child she leaves behind.

The two-year-old victim was not related to Miller. “She was dedicated to giving her son the best life possible,” the page reads. “A life filled with love and care. Hailey’s bright spirit, kindness, and unwavering love for her child touched everyone who knew her.” The fundraiser has raised more than $21,000 of its $50,000 goal to assist with funeral expenses.

Neighbors recalled their horror upon hearing the crime unfold. “I heard someone scream ‘No no no.’ I was looking out the window wondering what was going on,” said neighbor Moss Hanley. “I was kind of in denial at first, but I knew right then and there it was bad and was definitely a murder.”

“The fact that it’s a woman and a child—it’s honestly sickening to me,” another neighbor, Ben Hanley, told local ABC affiliate WTNH. Fletcher is scheduled to appear before a judge on March 13. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to uncover more details surrounding the tragic case.
