Robert Pattinson Reveals ‘Unusual’ Secret About His Daughter with Suki Waterhouse

Robert Pattinson is embracing fatherhood and can’t help but gush over his 10-month-old daughter, whom he shares with fiancée Suki Waterhouse. The 38-year-old actor welcomed his first child in March and recently opened up about his life as a parent during an interview with Vogue.
Pattinson shared his unexpected appreciation for his daughter’s scent. “I remember people used to be like, ‘Oh, don’t you like the smell of babies?’ but I thought they were just smelling the baby powder,” he said with a laugh. “But then I had a baby, and I was like, ‘My baby smells incredible.’”
The Twilight and Mickey 17 star went on to say that his daughter’s unique smell has become a cherished aspect of their bond. “She doesn’t smell like other babies,” Pattinson added. “There’s something there that helps me identify her.”
Experts have supported the idea that a baby’s scent plays a key role in bonding with parents. Dr. Marty Ellington Jr., chairperson of the pediatric department at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, told Parents in 2023 that a baby’s scent fosters connection.
“The baby’s appearance, smile, smell, and all the things the child does encourage us to nurture the child. Adults respond positively to babies. It’s all part of the bonding process,” Ellington explained. While Pattinson is clearly enjoying his journey as a new dad, he has a history of playful candor during interviews.
In the past, he admitted to The New York Times that he sometimes gets bored and fabricates stories, leaving fans guessing how much of his anecdotes are rooted in truth. Waterhouse, 33, first revealed her pregnancy during a live performance at the Corona Capital Festival in November 2023. The couple, who began dating in 2018, confirmed their engagement in December 2023.
As Pattinson revels in fatherhood, his candid remarks highlight the joy he’s found in this new chapter of his life. The actor, known for his enigmatic personality, appears to be relishing every moment of being a dad, even down to something as simple—and special—as his daughter’s scent.
