Joy Behar delivered a passionate message to Democrats during the Tuesday, February 11, episode of The View, urging them to take a page from Donald Trump’s media strategy and dominate the airwaves with frequent call-ins and interviews. “Remember when Trump used to call in constantly? He was on this show, Barbara [Walters] interviewed him, and he called in on Morning Joe,” Behar recalled, as reported by Fox News.

“That is what they should be doing. Every time, they should be ambushing the airwaves, the Democrats, get off your bu**s and start doing it.” Behar argued that Democrats not only need to increase their media presence but should also have a candidate who connects with everyday Americans in a personal and unfiltered way—just as Trump does with his supporters.

“It seems to me that you need a candidate that’s like Trump on the left. Somebody who speaks the vernacular. He comes out there and might as well say, ‘I got a hemorrhoid today,’ and they like it. Because it’s real,” she said. “They need something like that.”

However, not all of Behar’s co-hosts were on board with her call for a Trump-like figure on the left. “I hope not,” Sunny Hostin responded, visibly unimpressed with the idea of Democrats adopting Trump’s brash style. Whoopi Goldberg also pushed back, arguing that the real issue isn’t that Democrats aren’t speaking—it’s that the media isn’t giving them the same attention.

“Not to media bash, but, you know, people keep saying, ‘Why aren’t we hearing from people?’ It’s not that we’re not hearing from Democrats. They’re out there. Jasmine Crockett is out there, AOC is out there, people are out, Chuck Schumer. We see Chuck Schumer. You’re not getting the coverage because, to them, they’re boring,” Goldberg argued.

She emphasized that Democrats are making their voices heard but struggle to break through in a media landscape that prioritizes sensationalism. “People are doing what they can do. They have a very slim minority, and they’re doing what they can and they’re as vocal as they can be, but if you’re not getting the information, and you’re not getting it the way you used to get all kinds of information, it’s hard to break through,” Goldberg added.

Goldberg then challenged Behar to name specific Democrats who should be more visible. Without hesitation, Behar responded, “Pete Buttigieg and Jasmine Crockett are good messengers for the party.” Still, Behar remained firm on her call for action, urging Democrats to take a more aggressive media approach. “If Democrats want to get their message out,” she said, “Call into The View as we speak.”
