“I Cannot Watch Peppa Pig Anymore”: Keira Knightley reveals shocking reason for not wanting more children
Keira Knightley playfully blamed the children’s cartoon Peppa Pig for her decision not to expand her family during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, December 9.
While promoting her new Netflix series, Black Doves, the Love Actually star praised her daughters but admitted that the thought of watching Peppa Pig again was a dealbreaker for having more children.
“You know that thing where you’re like, ‘Oh, you know they’re so nice. Should we have another one?’” Knightley shared. “And you think, ‘Oh yeah, I could do the pregnancy. I could even do the birth, but I cannot watch Peppa Pig anymore.’ So there’s no more kids,” she confirmed with a laugh.
The 39-year-old actress is a proud mother to two daughters—nine-year-old Edie and five-year-old Delilah—whom she shares with her musician husband, James Righton. Knightley lovingly described her kids as “very cool” and noted they’ve finally moved on from Peppa Pig to more exciting content.
“They’re currently really into Japanese Studio Ghibli movies,” she said, clearly relieved after enduring seven years of the cartoon featuring the famous preschool pig.
Knightley added that her eldest daughter, Edie, has outgrown cartoons altogether and is now exploring music, with artists like Lizzo and Chappell Roan topping her playlists.
The Pride and Prejudice actress beamed while sharing her excitement for Edie’s upcoming birthday party. Knightley revealed her plans to throw a disco-themed celebration, complete with all of Edie’s favorite songs. “I’m looking forward to getting all the girls dancing,” she said enthusiastically.
Knightley’s candid humor about parenting struck a chord with audiences, particularly her lighthearted frustration with Peppa Pig. The long-running children’s cartoon, a staple in many households, has been known to elicit mixed reactions from parents.
While she may not be adding to her brood, Knightley’s joy in watching her daughters grow—and finally enjoying age-appropriate entertainment together—was clear. For now, it seems Knightley is content with her family of four, embracing the fun of Studio Ghibli movies, Lizzo dance parties, and a life free of Peppa Pig.
