Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, the 47-year-old principal of Roosevelt Elementary School in Cocoa Beach, Florida, was arrested on January 19 after police discovered over 100 children at an alcohol-infused house party she hosted. According to authorities, several students were found consuming alcohol, and the incident has raised serious concerns within the community.

Police were called to the scene following a report of a large party. Upon arrival, officers found more than 100 kids wearing matching t-shirts and coolers filled with alcohol inside the home. Disturbingly, one child was discovered on Hill-Brodigan’s lawn suffering from an “alcohol-related medical event.”

Police described the child as “so heavily intoxicated” that Brevard County Fire Rescue was called to provide immediate medical attention. As fire rescue crews treated the child, Hill-Brodigan was reportedly seen in her driveway turning off the outdoor lights before retreating into her home.

This forced responders to rely on their vehicle’s auxiliary lights while assisting the child. In addition to the chaos at the party, another child was arrested for driving under the influence near Hill-Brodigan’s home.

The situation escalated further when an intoxicated Roosevelt Elementary teacher, Karly Anderson, approached officers on the scene. Anderson admitted to attending the party and was also arrested. Both Hill-Brodigan and Anderson face a felony charge of child neglect and a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Hill-Brodigan faces an additional misdemeanor charge for holding an open house party. Brevard Public Schools responded swiftly, placing both Hill-Brodigan and Anderson on administrative leave. “Both employees have been immediately placed on administrative leave pending the results of an active police investigation,” the district said in a statement to WESH.

“We are extremely troubled by these accusations and are fully cooperating with the Cocoa Beach Police Department. Our commitment to student safety remains our top priority.” Hill-Brodigan, once recognized as “Teacher of the Year,” has served Brevard County schools for 23 years. Her bio on the school’s website highlights her dedication: “Students, families, and staff are very close to my heart.

I really enjoy what I do.” The arrest has left the community shocked, especially given Hill-Brodigan’s longstanding reputation as a committed educator. Investigations are ongoing as law enforcement and the school district work to address the troubling allegations.
