Following the devastating California wildfires earlier this year, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have made the difficult decision to permanently leave Los Angeles.

The couple, along with their four children and pets, were forced to evacuate their $17.5 million Beverly Hills home and seek refuge in a luxury hotel as fires raged across the region. Fortunately, their home was spared, but the disaster left a lasting impact.

The wildfires, which ignited on January 7, claimed the lives of nearly 29 people and left behind what Legend described as a “collective trauma.” The tragic event has led the couple to seriously reconsider their future in Los Angeles.

“Chrissy and I have always considered returning to New York, where we once lived,” Legend revealed in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “We probably will, once our youngest ones grow up a bit,” he added, hinting that a move east may be inevitable.

The Grammy-winning artist reflected on the toll of natural disasters in California, admitting that the recurring threat of wildfires has made them question whether staying in the area is worth the risk. “Every time nature shows its wrath, we wonder if it’s time to head back east. Who knows?” Legend said.

The couple, who are parents to Luna, Miles, Wren, and Esti, have lived in Los Angeles for years, but the increasing dangers posed by wildfires have clearly influenced their decision-making. While their move may not be immediate, it appears that leaving California is only a matter of time.
