SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — A 25-year-old California mother of three, described by her family as a “devoted” parent and a “beautiful soul,” was tragically killed last month when her husband allegedly drove her and another man off the road in a violent act of jealousy. Isaac Albert Perez, 31, has been charged with murder in connection with the deaths of his wife, Asia Guercy, and 31-year-old Charles Dark.

The incident occurred around midnight on January 26, when the San Bernardino Police Department (SBPD) responded to a reported two-vehicle collision. Officers arrived to find an unresponsive man and woman inside one of the vehicles, according to an SBPD news release. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

Authorities identified the victims as Asia Guercy and Charles Dark, with Perez named as Asia’s husband. According to reports from The Los Angeles Times. Perez confronted his wife and Dark at a park in San Bernardino over suspicions of an extramarital affair. After the two drove away, Perez allegedly pursued them, rear-ending their vehicle and forcing it through a chain-link fence into a flood control channel.

Perez was arrested shortly after the crash at approximately 12:15 a.m. and is currently being held without bail, according to inmate records from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department. He has been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear in court on March 3. Perez entered a not-guilty plea during his arraignment on January 28.

Asia Guercy and Perez had been in a relationship for 11 years and shared three children, according to a GoFundMe page created by her sister, Maliya Guercy. The page states that Perez allegedly ran Asia and her coworker off the road, resulting in their deaths. Maliya described her sister as a loving mother who was in the process of leaving her husband due to ongoing abuse.

“Her absence is a tremendous loss for our family and everyone who knew her,” Maliya told The Los Angeles Times. “Despite her challenges, she always shone brightly.”

Court records reveal that Asia had filed for a restraining order against Perez in 2021, citing domestic violence, but the request was denied by a judge. Maliya also disclosed that Asia endured both verbal and physical abuse throughout her marriage.

The San Bernardino County Coroner determined Asia’s cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. The GoFundMe page, created to support Asia’s children, described her as a woman of deep faith who regularly attended church with her family.

“Asia was a beautiful soul with a deep faith in God,” the page read. “She leaves behind three young children who now face a future without their loving mother.”

As the case moves forward, friends and family mourn the loss of a woman whose life was tragically cut short, while her children grapple with the devastating aftermath of their mother’s death.
