After more than three decades, rapper Jim Jones has decided to step away from smoking weed—at least temporarily—as he embarks on a transformative journey in Japan. The Dipset rapper, 48, took to Instagram to share a surprising personal milestone: for the first time since the early 1990s, he has gone several days without smoking.

“I ain’t smoked in five days. I’ve been around here bouncing like a kid like I’m in high school. I definitely got that high school feeling,” he wrote. Jones went on to describe how different his body feels since taking a break from his long-standing habit.

“My body ain’t feel this pure in a minute! I was in the club dancing last night for like 45 minutes straight, sweating,” he added, reflecting on the renewed energy he has been experiencing. Despite this newfound clarity, the rapper admitted that the break is only temporary, acknowledging his deep-rooted habit, told HipHopDX.

“I ain’t been sober in 33 years this **** feel gooood can’t lie but I need tht HT soon i a land lol im addicted lol but at least I know when it’s time for business im disciplined to stop cold Turkey for Whts important Japan is n was a vibe till next time arigato,” he wrote, seemingly embracing the moment while hinting at his eventual return to old routines.

Jones’ decision to temporarily step away from smoking coincides with his visit to Japan, where he met up with Kanye West. The rapper has been vocal about his excitement for West’s upcoming album, Bully, which he hyped up in a recent Instagram post.

“Bully this album so crazy I wouldn’t drop if I was y’all or drop now cause when he drops this is gone b a big problem. We not taking no for answers we are th BULLY,” he wrote, expressing confidence in West’s latest project.

Jones’ candid reflections on both his personal discipline and his admiration for West’s music have sparked conversations among fans. While his sobriety may be temporary, the experience of stepping away from old habits—even briefly—seems to have left a lasting impression.

With his Japan trip marking a significant moment of self-discipline and creative inspiration, Jim Jones continues to show that growth and evolution remain part of his journey, both personally and professionally.
