The offers are reportedly in the $20 million range, possibly higher with additional publishing rights like serialized magazine articles or a Netflix-style streaming deal, according to the source. This is a major payday compared to other high-profile memoirs. Barack and Michelle Obama received a combined $65 million advance for their books, while Bill Clinton got $10 million for his memoir, as reported by the Daily Mail.
A publishing executive explained the massive interest in Harris’ potential memoir: “More than anyone in the Biden White House, Kamala as the number two, and then as Joe Biden’s campaign successor after he dropped out of the race, knows all the secrets, knows where all the skeletons are buried.”
They further added, “She was there from the beginning of the administration and participated in all the presidential decisions, right or wrong. She’s the one who can tell the consummate story.” The executive also suggested that Harris’ book could exceed $20 million in value if TV, movie, or magazine rights are included.
