Prince Andrew will reportedly not attend the Royal Family’s Christmas celebrations at Sandringham this year as scrutiny over his association with an accused Chinese spy intensifies.

The Duke of York has chosen to “uninvite himself” from the traditional family gathering, according to The Sun on Sunday. The decision comes amid mounting pressure for Andrew to step back from public events following fresh controversy surrounding his connections. A source told the outlet, “He is under pressure to step away.”

The situation has reportedly frustrated King Charles, who now faces the challenge of managing his younger brother’s latest scandal. A royal insider told The Daily Beast, “He has stood by Andrew for many years, but everyone has their limits. I can’t see the King wanting to walk to church with someone who was friends with a Chinese spy.”

Andrew’s association with the alleged spy—considered a threat to UK national security—has caused renewed embarrassment for the monarchy. While Charles has previously been publicly supportive of Andrew, this incident is said to have tested his patience.

Another palace source spoke to the Mail on Sunday, shedding light on the delicate family dynamic. “The palace has behaved the best it possibly can with a difficult relationship. Every sanction that can be imposed has been, but you can’t divorce or sack your brother from being your brother. There will always be a bond of blood, and all families often have difficult relatives to deal with.”

Prince Andrew has largely been sidelined from royal duties since his infamous association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and subsequent public backlash. Despite stepping away from his formal responsibilities, his ongoing scandals continue to cast a shadow over the Royal Family.

The decision for Andrew to skip the Christmas gathering signals a desire to avoid further embarrassment for the monarchy during one of its most public traditions. The annual walk to church on Christmas Day at Sandringham is closely watched by the media and royal supporters, making it a significant event on the family’s calendar.

While King Charles has navigated many challenges since ascending the throne, managing Prince Andrew’s reputation remains an ongoing issue. For now, Andrew’s absence from the festivities may offer temporary relief as the Royal Family aims to project unity and stability this holiday season.
