Jamie Lee Curtis Leaves Hoda Kotb in Tears with Emotional Farewell Note
During her recent appearance on Today on December 12, Jamie Lee Curtis paid an emotional tribute to Hoda Kotb as the beloved co-host prepares to depart from the morning show. The Oscar-winning actress, who was on the show to promote her new film The Last Showgirl, took a moment to express her admiration and love for Kotb, making it clear how much she will be missed.
“Say it ain’t so, Hoda. I can’t deal with it. I just can’t deal with it,” Curtis began, visibly emotional. “I just can’t believe this is the last time I’m going to be here with you.”
The actress, who was dressed in purple alongside Kotb, remarked on the deeper significance of the color. “It’s appropriate we’re wearing purple,” Curtis said. “Purple is a wound, so I have a wound today with you. We are both wearing purple.”
Curtis continued, expressing her sadness over Kotb’s exit, “I’m a little sad, and yet I love you. I heard you on the phone with your daughters this morning, as I’ve heard you on the phone every time I come here at 7:22 a.m., you FaceTime your children.
You are an absolute treasure, and we are all going to miss you here. I can’t imagine this place without you. So that’s what I needed to say.”
Kotb, already emotional from Curtis’s heartfelt words, responded with gratitude. “First of all, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Kotb said, holding up a letter that Curtis had written her. “And thank you for the note that you gave me.”
It’s worth noting that Curtis had sent Kotb a letter back in September when Kotb first announced her departure from the show. The emotional exchange left both women visibly moved, highlighting the deep bond they share.
