Rumors are swirling following Donald Trump’s announcement that Kimberly Guilfoyle, former Fox News host and fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., will serve as the next U.S. ambassador to Greece. The news came Tuesday night, just hours after reports emerged that Trump Jr. was spotted with another woman, fueling speculation that their engagement is over.

Critics and commentators wasted no time connecting the dots. The group Republicans Against Trump posted, “The same day Don Jr. debuts his new girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle lands a new post in Greece. This is no coincidence.”

Freelance journalist Amanda Moore chimed in, sharing Trump Jr.’s celebratory post on X, and jokingly wrote on Bluesky, “It would be one thing if my ex shipped me off to Greece, but this would get my story told on Snapped.”

Others questioned the motives behind the appointment. Comedian Gabe Sanchez quipped, “How much did Donald Trump Jr. beg his dad to give Kimberly Guilfoyle this job?” Meanwhile, host John Fugelsang offered a tongue-in-cheek observation, writing, “Kimberly Guilfoyle is thrilled to be ambassador to Greece as that’s pretty much her all-time favorite musical.”

Criticism also came from former Trump insiders. Ex-Trump aide A.J. Delgado, known for her rocky experiences with the Trump campaign, was particularly scathing. “Ambassadors are supposed to have some connection to (or at least deep knowledge of) the country to which they are appointed.

Trainwreck Kimberly Guilfoyle? Is her qualification that she once visited the Greek Islands on vacation? What a joke,” she posted on X. Delgado doubled down Wednesday morning, adding, “I’m still amazed that Jr had his dad give his dumped girlfriend a job FAR, FAR away and out of the country so that he won’t have to run into her.

This is epic levels of humiliation.” Media Matters fellow Matthew Gertz noted a curious omission in Fox News’ coverage of Guilfoyle’s appointment, pointing out they failed to mention her past role at the network.

The online reaction also brought humor. Software engineer Alex Cole remarked, “The good thing about naming Kim Guilfoyle to be U.S. Ambassador to Greece is that we won’t see her for a long time.” Former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski added a pointed critique, lamenting, “We can’t have DEI but Kim Guilfoyle is Ambassador to Greece.”

While supporters remain quiet, the timing of Guilfoyle’s appointment and its personal implications have turned the announcement into a viral talking point. Whether she thrives in the role or not, her new post in Greece ensures she’ll remain a focus of public scrutiny for some time to come.
