Kentucky Father Kills Wife and Her Friend in Double Murder-Suicide Days After She Filed for Divorce

A tragic double murder-suicide has shaken the community of Lincoln County after a father-of-three allegedly shot and killed his wife and her friend just nine days after she filed for divorce. According to the Kentucky State Police, a preliminary investigation indicates that 30-year-old Spencer Baldwin fatally shot his wife, Heather Baldwin, 30, and her friend, Dennis Perry, 40, before turning the gun on himself at a home in Crab Orchard on Thursday, February 27.

Authorities reported that Heather and Perry sustained critical injuries and were rushed to separate hospitals, where both later succumbed to their wounds. Spencer Baldwin was pronounced dead at the scene. Heather and Spencer Baldwin had been married since August 2014 and shared three children.

According to court records obtained by Fox56 News, Heather had filed for divorce on February 18, just days before the fatal incident. Heather Baldwin was well-known in the community for her work as an office manager at the Danville Center for Health and Rehab. She was also actively involved in local politics as the chairwoman of the Lincoln County Democratic Party.

The Lincoln County Democratic Party released a statement mourning the loss of their leader, saying, “Heather worked tirelessly at trying to organize our party and get Democrats elected. We will miss her kind and gentle presence. Heather, her children, and her family are in our thoughts and prayers.”

Friends and colleagues remembered Heather as a passionate advocate for positive change. “Part of her motivation was to leave this place a better place for her children and everyone’s children,” said her friend Rachelle Riddle in an interview with WKYT. “She cared about everyone. She was so passionate about making things like this better, and it’s a shame that the world hadn’t given that to her.”

Spencer Baldwin, described in his obituary as a supervisor and pipe fitter, was known for his love of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and kayaking. His obituary also mentioned that he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his children.

Authorities have not yet released further details on the circumstances leading up to the shooting. The case remains under investigation as the community mourns the tragic loss of three lives. Family members and friends have requested privacy as they grieve, while community members have expressed shock and sorrow over the devastating incident.
